About The Event

Join us for a day full of fun for all in the family! There's something for everyone, Kids rides, market stalls, Food Trucks, Local Bands, street entertainment and buskers, and more! 

Every year this free event attracts a large crowd from all over Wellington – people who come to enjoy the hospitality of our South Coast. Performance artists provide entertainment as you stroll through the park and surrounding area. It’s a family fun day out – so bring friends, whānau, a hat and plenty of sunscreen.
Grab a good viewing spot by the beach for our famous Blessing of the Boats - that begins early afternoon. It’s where local clergy bless the boats (lined up in the Bay), granting them safe carriage and plentiful bounties. It’s become a bit of a tradition here. 

Day in the Bay is a Summer City event and is attended by up to 10,000 people each year. So put this date in your calendar.
