Beach Party

Watch brave competitors launch their homemade flying creations off the wharf in a burst of creativity and fun. Everyone is welcome — bring the whānau, pack a picnic, enjoy music and entertainment from 6pm, and cheer on the flyers, with a sandcastle competition and prizes adding to the fun for kids.

Crazy flying
machines?

Brave competitors will take to the skies, launching off the end of the wharf (well, at least for a few seconds 🤣).

Open entry (noting you’ll still need to complete the Health & Safety registration form) on the night means anyone with a passion for flight can join in the fun—design your own “flying” contraption and see how far you can go!

Local artists will judge the creations, with prizes up for grabs for the most inventive and daring designs. The fun isn’t just for the flyers! Even if you don’t want to enter, everyone is welcome to come along and watch the action.

Bring the whole whānau down to Island Bay Beach from 6pm, pack your picnic dinner, and enjoy a relaxed evening of community spirit, entertainment, and music — a perfect chance to meet neighbours, cheer on the flyers, and enjoy the seaside setting.
